It’s the last day of Blogmas! I can’t believe it! I have had so much fun thinking of topics to blog about these past days and I wanted to say a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who liked, followed and left comments! Thank you so much for all the support! As we all eagerly await Christmas day tomorrow, let’s have a short reflection on the First Christmas Night!
Imagine what it much have been like for Mary when the angel appeared to her, and told her she was with child by the Holy Spirit. As a young girl myself, I find that completely out of this world. But God isn’t a in this world God, He is bigger and greater than anything we can think of.
What about Joseph? Imagine an angel appearing to you in a dream and telling you that the woman you are engaged to, is with child! Everything in the story completely defies logic and that is because God’s ways are not our ways, He does not do things like we do. He wants to bring a testimony out of our time of testing.
Not only were they bewildered at what was happening to them, they had to travel all the way to Bethlehem because of a Census. How could they find a place to stay when everyone the knew was going back to the same place? It’s kinda like finding hotel accommodation for a holiday, couple days before Christmas!
Through it all, the promise was fulfilled. The prophecies that the Prophets foretold, almost 700 years ago had come to pass. There in a lowly manger, the Son of God was born. The Savior of the World, our Wonderful Counselor, our Mighty God, our Prince of Peace. He was Emmanuel, meaning God with us. God came to be with us. God cared about you and I so much that He sent His one and only Son to us, so that whoever believes in Him will have Everlasting Life.
The angels then appeared to the shepherds, asking them to spread the good news of great joy. Imagine that. God chose the most lowly of human beings to tell everyone about the birth of Christ! This means that no matter where you and I are, no matter what we have done, GOD CAN USE YOU! In the same way the three wise men, saw a bright star up in the sky and knew that the Savior of the world had been born and the followed that star to the manger in Bethlehem and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. Gifts fit for a King. The King of the World.
On Christmas day we celebrate the birth of Jesus. He gave up His glorious, pain-free home in heaven to come down and be with us, to feel the things that we feel and yet still completely did the will of God. Going so far as to die on the cross for our sins, so we wouldn’t have to face that punishment but instead can go and live in our Father in Heaven. The gap between God and Humans was destroyed when Jesus came down, this is why we celebrate Christmas.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”John 3:16 (NIV)
Stay Blessed and Have a Very Merry Christmas!
